Family
Lewis Bagot was the seventh son of Sir Walter Bagot and brother of the first Lord Bagot. In 1771, he married the sister of Dr. Hay of Christ Church.
Education
He was educated at Westminster and Christ Church, Oxford. He acquired his M.A. in 1764 and D.C.L. in 1772.
Church Appointments and Service
He was appointed canon of Christ Church in 1771 and elevated to the deanery in 1777. In 1782, he was consecrated bishop of Bristol, but was translated in the following year to the See of Norwich. In 1790, he was transferred to the See of St. Asaph.
Noteworthy Publications
His Warburtonian Lectures of 1780 on the Prophecies is his only book, although he helped finance an SPCK republication of Barrow's Doctrine of the Sacraments.
